Mayo Clinic Psychiatry’s flagship course, Psychiatry Clinical Updates, delivers practical, clinically focused guidance for managing psychiatric conditions across the lifespan. This year’s program highlights key updates in child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric psychiatry, with sessions covering mood disorders, ADHD, and reproductive psychiatry. The course also features focused updates on evidence-based psychotherapies and new, evolving pharmacologic treatment options.
Target Audience
This multidisciplinary course is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other clinicians who see patients with mental health conditions. Multiple specialties, including psychiatry, psychology, family medicine, neurology, and primary care, will benefit from attending this course.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review evidence-based approaches to treatment-resistant illness, including schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder.
- Select appropriate pharmacologic and behavioral treatments for ADHD and substance use disorders.
- Evaluate emerging psychiatric treatments, including psychedelics and clozapine, for efficacy, safety, and appropriate clinical use.
- Differentiate psychiatric, neurodevelopmental, medical, medication-related, and neurocognitive causes of complex presentations.
- Review evidence-based psychiatric treatment during pregnancy, postpartum, and other reproductive transitions.
- Evaluate safe and appropriate uses of artificial intelligence in mental health care.
- Individualize treatment for patients with comorbidity, polypharmacy, or treatment-resistant illness.

ASWB
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science is approved to offer Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course will receive 27.00 general continuing education credits.
AAPA
Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria.
