This in-person, multidisciplinary, interactive workshop is an introduction to procedural simulation in healthcare. Built on sound theoretical foundations of psychomotor skills development, standards of practice and research, this workshop will prepares participants to plan, design, implement, assess and provide effective feedback for procedural skills using simulation.

Enrollment is limited to smaller groups to encourage maximum engagement of all participants.

Target Audience

This workshop is designed for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, paramedics and other healthcare professionals interested in enhancing their knowledge and competency in teaching procedural skills using simulation.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants who fully engage in all activities will be able to:

  • Explore basic elements and concepts of facilitating psychomotor skills development.
  • Discuss the process of planning and implementation of effective simulation based procedural mastery.
  • Identify common methods to assess procedural competency using simulation.
  • Demonstrate various ways to provide feedback to learners during and after procedural simulations.

Teach the Teacher: Empowering Educators in Simulation-Based Procedural Skills Training is held in the Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center, which is located on the main floor of the Stabile Building, 150 Third St. SW, Rochester, Minnesota. It is easily accessible by skyway and the pedestrian subway that connects Mayo Clinic to shops, restaurants, and hotels.
