The Mayo Clinic Sports Performance Clinic is an optional workshop that is being offered in conjunction with the 31st Annual Mayo Clinic Symposium on Sports Medicine  

The Mayo Clinic Sports Performance Clinic will introduce research-based content presented by certified sports performance practitioners in an effort to further equip and engage active learners in the continued development of their performance knowledge base.

LIVE (in-person) attendees must comply with all live course requirements and guidelines and applicable state and local COVID-19 travel restrictions, guidance and resources.  Learners who do not fulfill the requirements will be unable to attend the live (in-person) event. 

Requirements and guidelines may be amended as CDC, public health and other relevant guidance are adjusted.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other medical professionals who evaluate and treat athletes and other active populations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the anatomy of hip structures including the gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, capsulolabral complex, iliopsoas tendon, and hip compartmen
  • Identify pathologic gait and physical exam maneuvers in the hip patient
  • Describe the rehabilitation following gluteal tendon repair and review return to play considerations
  • Recognize risks for hip cartilage injuries and identify treatment options
  • Describe CAM lesions and surgical treatment
  • Describe ultrasound guided and surgical procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of hip conditions
  • Identify radiographic and advanced imaging findings of the hip

Lodging Accommodations

A limited number of guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with special course rates at the following downtown Rochester hotel. In order to receive the special rate (plus applicable taxes and fees), reservations must be made before the room blocks are filled or before the cutoff date of October 13, 2022, whichever comes first. After October 13, 2022, reservations will be taken based on space and rate availability. Rochester, Minnesota, greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is serviced by an international airport with multiple flights daily.

Parking is available in hotel and city ramps. The cost for parking is not included in the registration fee.

Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science (BOC AP#: P476) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 3.75 Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational  program.

NSCA 

  National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) approved 0.4 CEU(s) in category A for certified individuals attending this event.

Physical Therapy
Co-sponsored by the Program in Physical Therapy, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science / Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. This course meets the criteria for 3.75 hours of credit per Minnesota Physical Therapy Rules 5601.2400, 5601.2500.
