Target Audience

This program highlights key topics in sports medicine, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment strategies. It is designed for athletic trainers, physical therapists, primary care providers, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, and other healthcare professionals interested in this field. It also promotes evidence-based, patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply current evidence-based diagnostic approaches, including physical examination, imaging, and musculoskeletal ultrasound, to accurately evaluate tendinopathies and other common sports medicine conditions across diverse athletic populations.
  • Integrate contemporary rehabilitation principles, load management strategies, and recovery science into individualized treatment plans to optimize function, performance, and return-to-activity outcomes for recreational and elite athletes.
  • Evaluate the indications, risks, benefits, and supporting evidence for emerging therapeutic interventions, including orthobiologics, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), shockwave therapy, percutaneous tenotomy, peptides, and nutritional supplementation in the management of tendinopathies and musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Demonstrate appropriate patient selection and evidence-based application of ultrasound-guided and minimally invasive sports medicine procedures to improve procedural accuracy, safety, and clinical outcomes.
  • Incorporate advances in athlete monitoring, wearable technologies, artificial intelligence, injury prevention, and performance optimization into multidisciplinary sports medicine practice to identify at-risk individuals earlier and enhance long-term athlete health and performance.
