Designed for endocrinologists and interested internists and surgeons, this course addresses gaps in medical knowledge and barriers in clinical practice to improve the outcomes of patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. This program will consist of lecture, small group, panel discussion formats covering best practices, barriers to optimal patient outcomes and new approaches to the evaluation and management of complex and common endocrine disorders. In addition, this year's program will bring new delivery formats to the audience, including clinical debates and clinicopathological conferences.

Target Audience

This course is designed to meet the professional needs of practicing endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, pharmacists, and interested internists who care for adults with endocrine disorders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the efficacy of incretin therapy in the management of obesity.
  • Identify the patient who would benefit from therapy to delay the progression towards Type 1 diabetes mellitus.
  • Examine the benefits and limitations in using bone turnover markers to guide decisions and individualize care in patients with osteoporosis.
  • Appraise available literature on diagnosis and management of thyroid cancer.
  • Identify strategies to personalize treatment approaches in patients with suspected or confirmed thyroid cancer.

Lodging

Rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort for discounted rates starting at $299/night. In order to receive the special rates, reservations must be made before January 3, 2024, or before the room block fills.  Reservations are based on space and rate availability.

Daily Resort Fee (9.25% of room rate):
A daily resort fee will be applied per room per night for all attendees staying at the resort.  The fee includes the following:

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participate to earn up to 16.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.  It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Participant information will be share with ABIM through PARS.

ABS Accredited CME
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirements of the American Board of Surgery's Continuous Certification program.  It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

Optional Royal College Statement
Through an agreement between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical practitioners participating in the Royal College MOC Program may record completion of accredited activities registered under the ACCME's "CME in Support of MOC" program in Section 3 of the Royal College's MOC Program.
