The 2021 Mayo Clinic Conference on Brain Health and Dementia (MCCBHD) is taking place on Friday October 29th, 2021 in Rochester, Minnesota in collaboration with the Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer’s Association and AARP of Minnesota.
As we emerge out of a pandemic that has further isolated those living with dementia and their care partners, we look for a brighter path forward. This year’s conference will acknowledge and pay tribute to all that families have experienced while providing opportunities to connect, learn, gain new skills, and find renewed hope in what lies ahead.
In addition to Ronald Petersen, M.D., Ph.D and other Mayo Clinic faculty, invited speakers include:

Concurrent with the scientific program for physicians and healthcare professionals, there will be a separate patient-oriented symposium. Registration for the patient symposium is free for patients and their family members.

Scholarships for Professionals seeking continuing education credits
The Alzheimer’s Association is providing Diversity scholarships to professionals who are registering to receive 5.25 AMA continuing education credits at the conference. To be eligible for a Diversity Scholarship, applicants must:
Have a financial barrier AND be an aging services, healthcare, public health professional, student, or volunteers who serves low-income, underserved or diverse populations. (e.g. BIPOC, LGBTQ, New American, Veteran or Rural communities)
Diversity Scholarships cover the full $110 cost associated with receiving 5.25 AMA continuing education credits. This applies to either LIVESTREAM or in-person registration.
Applications are due by August 15, 2021. Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis if funds remain available. Scholarship recipients will be notified within one week of submission and if awarded will receive instructions and a discount code for free registration.

Target Audience
This conference encourages and invites persons living with dementia, care partners and families, healthcare and other professionals who serve older adults, and anyone interested in supporting friends and neighbors who may be experiencing memory loss, Alzheimer’s or a related dementia to attend.
Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Gain insights and understanding into the ways those living with dementia can reclaim their autonomy and redefine their sense of self.
- Hear from experts about biomedical breakthroughs that may hold the key to preventing and/or treating Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
- Think critically about diversity, equity and inclusion in our efforts to care, support, and positively impact older adults and those living with dementia.
- Participate in an interactive and uplifting workshop for those living with dementia.
- Learn about ethical issues in dementia in an interactive workshop designed for professionals.
- Be inspired at “Hopefest” as you hear about promising approaches to improve wellbeing for those living with dementia and care partners.
- Discover how care partners can use evidence-based approaches to reduce everyday stress.
